That Fateful Day.............

Do you remember what you were doing on that terrible day of September 11th 2001?
When terror struck for real ...
I remember someone at work getting a phone call from a family member who had just seen it on the news and the total disbelief in their voice when they were told what had happened - the word spread round our office and everyone was in shock.
So for all our American blogging buddies - my thoughts are with you for the destruction and terrible loss of life on that horrendous day which probably changed your country for good.

How nice of you to write a post about this, Dawn! I think this is that kind of day everybody remember every little detail about, and that fear that filled us... A very special day indeed, and seven years after the world has changed so much because of this!

Hugs, Hanne:)

I remember. I was at work and someone called me into the boardroom where the telly was on and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. We watched in horror as events unfolded and it just seemed unbelievable. I think we knew then that the world would never be the same again. To this day, I cant see a plane in the sky without thinking about it xxx

I remember seeing it on the TV and just not believing what I was seeing. At first I thought it must be a film I'd come in on but then realised it was for real and my blood ran cold.

It doesn't seem like seven years ago does it? My heart goes out to everyone who lost loved ones that day and also to the survivors who still have to live with the memories. I think it will be a long time before anyone forgets what happened on 9/11.

Hugs

I was at work in Upstate, NY, about 7 hours away by car). A friend of our was in NYC on business and was trapped in the city with no way out. In fact I beleive she wound up in Central Park. Anyway, another friend of ours who has family about an hour outside the city, got his brother to go into the city, (not an easy feat on a day like that), and get her.

My son's friend from high school was a freshman in college in the city. she had only been there for a couple of weeks at the time of this incident. Very terrifing for her mom.

It was a time of concern and uncertainty for us as well, as our oldest was in basic training for the military at the time.

Since then he has several deployments protecting his country, one of those deployments being in Iraq.

It's one of those times of year I dread. All over the tv there are shows on about that fateful day......movies, documentaries, you name it, it's on....I just can't watch.

I remember this day too Dawn, I think about all of those people often. We have family who moved out to the states a long time ago and they were distraught at what was happening, watching it unfold on the tv was awful and something you would never forget.xxx

Hi Dawn,

Yes, my son is still in the military. He's in the Army National Guard. He's been in for 8years and has 5 more to go. I have a feeling he will re-enlist again and make it a second career. In the past 8 years he's spent about 4 of it deployed.... both here in the states and overseas.
