Sad Sad News............

I phoned the vet just now and the poor wee cat I took there yesterday had to be put to sleep this morning. Devastating news but deep down I knew it was going to happen. I am glad it's suffering has ended and god knows how long it had suffered, I am trying not to think about it.
At least it's last few hours were more comfortable.............
I am going home at lunch time to give my two furries heaps of hugs...................

Thanks to everyone who left a comforting comment on my last post - I really appreciated it - I cannot explain the feeling of seeing a cat die in front of your eyes.

That's such a shame but as least the poor cat is out of pain now and that at least is something. It is never easy seeing an animal be put to sleep even when you know in your heart it is the kindest thing do to for them.

Sending you big hugs Dawn.

Oh jeez Dawn. I feel so awful for you hunny. But I agree with Kath and at least the poor thing had someone who cared about it during its last few hours. People who neglect their pets and just turf them out onto the streets to fend for themselves need stringing up by the you know whats. I am being very polite here I can tell you, cos I cannot put what I really think or I would get chucked out of Blogland.

I was driving behind a taxi a few years ago and it ran over what looked like a paper bag - it was in fact a poor cat. The taxi driver did not stop but I couldn't leave it cos I am like you. So I knocked the nearest house, asked them for a blanket and a box and rang the emergency vet who told me to take it to his surgery straight away and he would meet us there, which he did. As I was trying to get the poor thing into the box - it was not helping itself cos it was so scared - these lads came up to me and asked me what I was doing. I told them, and their reply? Why don't you just get a brick and hit it over the head?. Now, I know most people think I am very placid and laid back, which I am. But I tell you, I nearly rang their necks. Had they have turned on me, I would have been in trouble, but they must have known how angry I was. Like you, my story did not have a happy ending either. I tried everything to find out who the owners were so that I could tell them but nobody ever answered my ads. You take care hunny and hope you are not feeling down for too long xxxxx

Aww, Dawn.. that is such sad news. Poor little thing. But it might have lingered for days yet, and suffered so much more, if you hadn't been the good Samaritan that you are.

Thank God for people like you.

Sending you an extra special hug,
Chris xx

Just read your account of finding the poor cat. Thank you, and God bless you, for doing all you could for that poor cat. Must admit I would have put in a complaint about the vet, sounded like a horrible person.
When our little cat got run over last year someone kindly picked her up and brought her home to us and we could not have been more grateful.
It must have been so upsetting for you. Big hug and thank you.
